Rodarte, SS16.

There was a lot of history in the Spring/Summer 2016 collection from Rodarte (/'Ro-dar-tay/). Not only did Kate and Laura Mulleavy take inspiration from Emily Dickinson poetry, 70s and 80s disco and the Electric Light Orchestra, they also drew upon their earlier collections, specifically Spring/Summer 2009 where they showcased their true flair for intricate, lace-like knitwear.

This, their best collection in recent years, saw decadent shearling outerwear thrown over black, silver and white lamé suits (did someone say Dynasty?) and ridiculously intricate lace evening dresses, reminiscent of Old Hollywood. Slinky slick scarves set off many of the outfits beautifully, and the footwear was the perfect finishing touch in gold and silver metallic leather teamed with rich velvet.

I think you'll agree that the collection had another world-y quality to it. Some of the outfits looked like they had fallen straight out of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale - especially those looks that teamed Victoriana bodices with the intricate lace I mentioned earlier, that were only accentuated by chandelier-like earrings.
