The modern man's Christmas wardrobe.

With the festive season literally upon us, all the focus seems to be on the 'perfect party dress' for women.  But what about us guys?  Long gone are the days where the office party involved your best Christmas jumper with tinsel accessories...  The need to look suave has never been more paramount: everyone secretly wants that mistletoe kiss, and a way to secure this?  Be known as the 'guy with amazing style'.

This post will be broken down into four parts, or the four key looks to nail over the holidays.  First I'll take a look at the office Christmas party, then the big day itself.  After that, no one can escape those freezing family walks so I'll be looking at the best things for us guys to wear to keep warm but also keep stylish.  Finally I'll take a look at the biggest night out of the year, New Year's Eve.

The Office Christmas Party
Office parties are perhaps the easiest type to dress for: you need to keep it smart, after all it's still a work event. My advice would be choose a shirt with the perfect fit, a subtle print wouldn't go amiss. Simply wear this with a suit pant in a  colour that compliments the shirt. Finish off with some nicely polished formal shoes and you're all set. For a pop of colour to simple outfits, try wearing a bright sock - worried no one will see them? Fear not, you'll flash them when dancing.

Trousers: Zara, £45.99

Christmas Day
Granted all you'll be doing is unwrapping, eating and drinking, but why not do so in style?  On Christmas day, comfort is crucial so start with your favourite piece of knitwear, I'd go for a fine turtle neck like the Zara piece below.  Team it with some dark indigo, skinny jeans.  If like my family, it's tradition that you venture to the local pub for a few more drinks mid-afternoon, the Reiss camel coat below is the perfect piece to throw over your outfit.  For footwear, I'd keep it quite smart and wear some Chelsea-style boots.  The pair below are a modern take on the classic from All Saints.

Coat: Reiss, £350
Boots: All Saints, £325
Sweater: Zara, £22.99
Jeans: Burberry Brit, £195

The Winter Walk
It has become a ritual for families to go for long country walks with the dogs to nurse those festive hangovers.  The fresh air either kills or cures, but here's my guide to shutting the look down.  Keeping warm is vital so start with a puffer jacket.  Then, it's all about layering: underneath a chunky knit, wear a polo shirt for added warmth. On your bottom half,  as you can never depend on the British weather, dig out your Hunter wellies and thick socks. Like on Christmas day, wear your trusted skinny jeans, just so the look stays modern. Also, accessories are a must: remember your scarf and gloves.

Wellies: Hunter, £95
Scarf: Burberry, £295
Puffer: Burberry Brit, £695

New Year's Eve
Perhaps the one night of the year that you can never be too overdressed, New Year's Eve, to me says 'tailoring', not matter your age or shape. Dinner with friends? (Expensive) drinks at your favourite bar? Even the classic NYE Ball? Wherever you're going, a suit or smart jacket is going to be appropriate. As an employee of theirs, I have to say that the selection of tailoring available at Burberry is second to none. From luxurious velvet jackets to the perfect skinny tuxedo, Burberry really has it all. Head over to their website for the full collection, but below are my favourite pieces for that great New Year's Eve outfit.

Camel Velvet Jacket: Burberry, £595
Tuxedo: Burberry, £1,295
